The Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation is pleased to stage the park’s 32nd photo contest. The event sparks creativity and provides an opportunity for the community to share their unique perspectives of Mission Trails. Contest entrants of all ages can submit one photo online between February 21 and April 1, with no entry fee.

This year, we’ve added two new categories: “Professional” for those whose primary income is from their photographic work and “Cowles Mountain” in honor of the 50th anniversary of the peak’s purchase by the City and County of San Diego. Other categories for adults are Plants, Animals, Landscapes, and People. Teens and children 12 and younger can enter one photo in their respective age group and the subject matter could include Cowles Mountain. See category details and contest rules below. This event is supported by the City of San Diego.

Contest entries accepted: February 21 – April 1, 2025

Categories for Adults: Plants | Animals | Landscapes | People | Professional | Cowles Mountain

Teens: Open category

Children 12 and younger: Open category

Scoring from our panel of judges will determine which entries will be printed and on view at the Visitor Center. The printing of the selected entries will be facilitated and paid for by the MTRP Foundation. The selected photos will be on view at the Visitor Center from May 22–July 7, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on May 22 from 6-8 PM. The event is free, and everyone is welcome.

The contest is free to enter and can only be done online. Photos must be taken within MTRP from an authorized trail, with MTRP as the subject. Review the Contest Rules carefully.

Please read the Contest Rules before submitting your photo. If you do not follow the guidelines, your photo may be disqualified without notice.

If your photo is chosen to be displayed at the Visitor Center, you will be notified via email by April 21.
